Lorena Quevedo
My name is Lorena Vargas Quevedo and I'm a native Spanish speaker, I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia where I was educated in the Spanish language throughout my scholastic career.
I started learning English at a young age in school , with tutors and will my own efforts. I reached conversational fluency by the age of 12. I moved Colorado Springs 8 years ago, I'm a mother of two and have made an effort , along with my husband, to raise our two daughters as bilinguals in Spanish and English with great success .
I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching my two daughters my mother tongue because in doing so, they will have the opportunity to not only be bilingual but also to learn from my knowledge about Latin American culture . My hope is that this will instill in them a purpose to stay connected with the Spanish language and Spanish speakers everywhere. Just as with my own daughters I’m highly motivated to help my students develop essential language skills in Spanish and help them see the Hispanic culture and language in a fun and fascinating way.
