About your teacher:

Amanda Galvan

Amanda Galvan is a current stay at home mom, working hard to raise two little boys in a language rich environment of English and Spanish. For the past few years, Amanda was a 4th Grade Spanish Immersion Teacher at Ranch Creek Elementary in Colorado Springs. She taught fourth grade Colorado state standards in Spanish to non-native speakers. While her students were a little older than most Music Lingua students, the strategies of music, art, drama, and play worked the same. Before teaching in Spanish, Amanda also taught in Puerto Rico and at Ranch Creek in a traditional classroom. How’d she obtain the skills to teach in Spanish? Amanda gained exposure to the Spanish language later in life. Knowing that she wanted to be a teacher, learn another language, and spend time living abroad, she chose to major in Spanish Literature and Composition while also getting her Elementary teaching license at CU Boulder. Amanda was fortunate enough to live in Valparaíso, Chile for a year studying at the local university and living with a host family. Talk about a steep learning curve and the ultimate language immersion experience! She knows firsthand how challenging (for those of us who have to work at it) and rewarding it can be to learn a second language. Amanda is eager to help develop your little ones' language skills, too.
