About your teachers:

Erica Hofer is a native Spanish speaker from Peru. She came to the U.S. in 2001 after marrying her American husband. Erica believes very strongly in teaching both languages to her little girl and realizes this can be most fun through songs. After receiving her High School diploma, Erica received a Diploma of English Studies from the Institute Cultural Peruvian Northamerican.  She has experience teaching both English to Spanish speakers and Spanish to English speakers.  Back in Peru, she taught English to students ages 6 to adult and to secretarial students (mandatory course) at two different schools for two semesters.  While in Iowa obtaining an Accounting Certificate I, she taught Spanish to children at an elementary school.  These positions gave her the opportunity to develop and improve both her English and teaching skills.

Michele West, Spanish teacher, studied Spanish through traveling and living in Spanish speaking countries as well as through formal studies of the language.  Her first degree in Educational Psychology allowed her to study the language acquisition abilities of children.  After graduating she settled in Montana and furthered her experience of working with children and adolescents in various youth-at-risk counseling programs ranging from the group home setting to the remote backcountry as a wilderness counselor.  She returned to academia at Montana State University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, K-12 Spanish with a minor in Teaching Reading K-12.  She chose to complete her student teaching in Mexico at the American School of Puerto Vallarta where she lived for five months.  Michele taught Spanish at Hawthorne Elementary School, and has taught Spanish Music Lingua classes for 5 years.

Kristen Wolf has her B.A. in Spanish Translation from the University of Maryland, plus a minor in Elementary Education.  She has traveled extensively through Mexico and lived in Spain, as part of her studies.  She is currently working towards her Montessori certificate for Infants and Toddlers.  She works at Little Tree Education Center in the two year-old classroom.  Kristen also plans to be Montessori certified in ages 3-6 and 6-9, as well.  She utilizes her Spanish skills with her class and two year-old son regularly. She has lead trail crews, outdoor recreation trips and worked as an adjudicated youth backcountry instructor, all which lead her to live in Montana.  Kristen enjoys teaching, cooking, traveling, knitting, biking, backpacking and being with her husband, son and 3 dogs.
