About your teacher:

Barbara Mills

Following almost a decade immersed in the French language, this American is frequently mistaken for a native speaker!

Growing up on a family farm in Iowa, Barbara embodies small town values and a strong work ethic. She loves to travel and welcomes challenges. After earning a graduate degree in International Business, Barbara went on to work in Europe in economic development. She spent three years in Brussels utilizing the French skills she had gained as an undergraduate at the American University in Paris.

This was a transformative time--Barbara fell in love with Paris and set the foundation for the French language skills she used in France and Belgium. She says, "I've always been a talkative person and finding myself in an immersive environment, I was determined to speak French well." During her time in Brussels, Barbara met her husband and settled back in the United States.

Barbara is now the mother of two and is committed to exposing them to foreign languages early. Having learned a second language later in life, Barbara is passionate about growing young minds through foreign languages and cultural awareness.

Barbara says, "We now know how critical it is to introduce foreign language work to young children. Music Lingua makes this process fun and meaningful."
